Davis Manor, Plymouth
Characterized by a mixture of styles, the original Davis mansion was one of the largest homes in the area. Situated on a sprawling lot surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and lawn that rolled down to Court Street, the home stood prominently as the gateway to downtown. Massive stone foundations, sweeping gambrel roof lines, oversized windows and highly detailed trim and siding adorned this magnificent structure. Once the home of William Davis, president of Plymouth Bank, no detail was overlooked. From the stone terrace to handmade wrought iron rails, the Davis mansion became a landmark in Plymouth proper.
Eventually razed due to years of deterioration and the cost of repairs, the site remains, known for its once dominant presence. Stately and distinguished, the new Davis Manor captures these historic characteristics and stands as an acknowledgment of a rich history and the traditional values of its past owners – and is now poised to enter a new era in the thriving community of Plymouth.
